The Odds are Forever in The Hunger Games' Favor

Weekend Recap: 4/6-8/2012

The Hunger Games continued to fight on throughout the Easter weekend, topping the domestic box office with a cool $33.5 million over the three-day holiday weekend in 4,137 theaters, bringing its total gross to $302.8 million domestically in three weeks. Made for an estimated $78 million, The Hunger Games has pulled in $460 million worldwide so far.

American Reunion took second place this weekend, earning $21.5 million domestically in 3,192 theaters and $19.3 million internationally, bringing its 3-day total to $40.8 million. The film may not be the juggernaut The Hunger Games is, but with an estimated budget of $50 million, American Reunion will certainly be considered a success.

Titanic 3D came in third, having grossed $17.4 million over the weekend in 2,674 theaters, bringing its 5-day total (it came out Wednesday) to $25.7 million.
