2013 Week 1
Preseason has come and gone and regular season is about to start! Nothing during the past 4 weeks happened to shake up the Top 10, but out of those, 7 teams are in different positions. Only the Texans, Packers, and Broncos are in the same spots as last time. And it was even even tougher decision to leave off the Redskins yet again, but RG3 still hasn't tested his leg against real opponents yet. If he looks fine, the Colts at #10 may need to expect the boot. But that's for later, let's see what we have now. Hike!
Nipping at #10's heels: The Redskins, Giants, & Saints
10. Indianapolis Colts
Last Week: 8th
Top Ranking: 8th (Preseason)
9. Cincinnati Bengals
Last Week: 10th
Top Ranking: 9th (Week 1)
8. Baltimore Ravens
Last Week: 9th
Top Ranking: 5th (Pre-Free Agency)
7. Houston Texans
Last Week: 7th
Top Ranking: 7th (Preseason, Week 1)
6. Green Bay Packers
Last Week: 6th
Top Ranking: 6th (Pre-Draft, Preseason, Week 1)
5. New England Patriots
Last Week: 4th
Top Ranking: 1st (Pre-Free Agency)
The Patriots looked really good in the Preseason until an ugly loss to the Lions, which leaves a number of questions about who the real Pats are.The young, relatively untested offense looks promising, but early growing pains might hurt NE in the long run. How quickly they can come together to compete in the regular season will dramatically effect their Power Ranking status.
4. Atlanta Falcons
Last Week: 5th
Top Ranking: 3rd (Pre-Free Agency)
A number of commentators have gotten really high on the Falcons recently, but I'm not entirely sold that they're quite in the same league as the Top 3. But I'm not one to ignore the words of professionals, so they did get a bump from 5th to 4th, for now.
3. Denver Broncos
Last Week: 3rd
Top Ranking: 3rd (Pre-Draft, Preseason, Week 1)
The Broncos have looked great so far and I see no reason why they can't make a strong push for the #1 spot. How good the offense could be is really kinda scary for every other team in the league.
2. San Francisco 49ers
Last Week: 1st
Top Ranking: 1st (Pre-Draft, Preseason)
Yeah, the 49ers moved from 1st to 2nd, but does anyone really see a difference at this point? We may not know who the better team is until the 49ers and Seahawks play each other in Weeks 2 and 14.
1. Seattle Seahawks
Last Week: 2nd
Top Ranking: 1st (Week 1)
It was time for the Seahawks to get a chance to defend the #1 spot. I actually see them as very, very, very slight underdogs when matched up against the 49ers (Seattle didn't make it to the Superbowl after all), but you gotta root for the underdogs! Even if the underdogs are one of the Top 3 teams in the league.
